Board
The first monthly meeting of the new BOD was held on August 18th
and what a blast it was. A large crowd was in attendance to see
the newest board members in action. Reports were given by each committee
and we learned what new and old business was being done in the village.
This was all followed by a member’s interaction where many
members were given the opportunity to be heard by the BOD. To get
your voice heard and learn what your BOD is doing for you, come
to a meeting. Times and dates are posted on our website at windjammerpoa.com/meetings.htm
The Board is working very hard on making our Village safer. We have
had recent incidents where juveniles were causing many members to
be fearful for trespassing and mischievous behavior. We have given
the Horry County Police stickers to come into the Village any time
and patrol the entire area. We hope this is a giant step in the
right direction.
We are still in need of Committee Chairpersons and members of committees.
We are very thankful to those who have volunteered for positions
already. We have had a great turnout of members for our meetings
and hope this continues.
We met with members of Communities concerning the Canal issue.
We will have a second meeting in Conway on Tuesday, August 25. The
Stormwater Advisory Board is suggesting only 2-3 representatives,
and tells us that there is hope that the recommendation will NOT
proceed with the canal. I will let you know those results. Last,
we have hopes that the BOD will try our best to resolve any issues
that come before us.
Sincerely,
Rosanne Pazoga
We would like to thank Judy Panarello for volunteering
to be our new Secretary of the Board. Judy took the notes at the
1st meeting, and we appreciate her efforts. We would also like to
thank Melissa Basehoar for volunteering as Chair
of the Nominating Committee; Kathleen Tatarinchik
and Lacy Paulussen as co-chairs of the Recreation
Committee; Eleanor Fulmer as chair of the GAC;
and Joanne and Arnold Abercrombie
as co-chairs of Hospitality Committee. Please call them if you’d
like to be on their committees.
Fines:
$100 fine for illegal parking.
Letters sent:
recommending removing dangerous tree, unsightly carport, abandoned
vehicle, overgrown lot, foul language from a minor to an adult,
and an act of vandalism.
Architectural
The architectural package was revised 7/09 and is on the forms
page on the web.
Beautification
Our Maintenance contract has started on the upkeep of the entrance.
Crews have been out mulching, weeding and cleaning up the front
to help the Village put its best face forward. Beautification, with
members of maintenance who volunteered to undertake the Circle Center
revamp, have now received bids on reworking the size of the centers
and adding new signage. These will be presented to the BOD for decisions.
Budget and Finance
Melissa Basehoar is not only BOD treasurer, but also the Chairperson
for Budget and Finance. She loves crunching numbers and expresses
the desire to share this with other members- if you are interested
in deciding how to budget and spend our Village dollars, Melissa
could use your help on this committee. Please call her.
Compound
There are many sites that need mowing. The Compound will be checked
to see if all rules are being adhered to. If not, a notice will
be sent to owners of items, and given 10 days to respond or a letter
will be sent with a fine.
Legal
The Board is meeting with the lawyer on several issues and will
report at next meeting.
Maintenance
We are working with a new contractor for the pool, on a month-to-month
basis, as the old contractor did not renew for the upcoming year.
We have had some issues but hope to resolve them shortly. The smaller
pool has revamped filtration pumps and is working nicely. Maintenance
continues to collect brush on Fridays, so if you clean your yard
over the weekend, please do not place yard refuge at the roadside
before Thursday. Watch for sign-up sheets for fall clean-up projects.
Recreation
We will be holding our first meeting Thursday August 27th at 7pm
at the clubhouse. If you are interested in finding out what we are
about, come and attend.
Security
Reminder: please walk facing traffic on our roads, especially Little
River Drive. If you have to cross over to the other side for a little
bit, please cross back over when safe. We have had an instance of
someone getting bumped, and reports of children walking in the middle
of the road. Please remember: 20 mph on Little River Drive and 15
mph on circles. The Horry County police are now going to make daily,
random drive-thrus.
